Just got wrangled into this business after seeing a few very amazing deviant artists. For those who care to read, here's a little info...er... more like news I guess.

I am a college student at the University of Texas at Austin. Started out as an Electrical Engineer, but.. well let's just say it didn't quite work out. I'm currently major-less :\ However, I will probably end up majoring in a foreign language, finding whatever job I can with that, and accumulating more language proficiencies from there.

I love love LOVE fencing. There aren't too many 'practical' classes you can take when you don't have a major, so I decided to take one for fun. What I REALLY wanted was a martial arts class, but alas they're always filled up in a flash. I ended up in a beginner fencing class, and almost dropped it in favor of joining the kendo club (katanas are awesome ), but I figured I have 12 class days to drop it, so I went to my class anyway and liked it. We get class credit for going to club practices at night (extra from class), so I went and checked it out. It was even better I started spending all my free time in the fencing hall, whenever it was open. Finally, they let me take the beginner's test, which just makes sure you're 'safe' and won't damage equipment or people, and started fencing on strip (this means you get hooked up to electrical scoring equipment). Getting to fence for real was SO AWESOME.

So, now fencing is my life, and I WISH I could major in it (ha). We had tryouts for regional competition last week, and I actually made it, haha. Yay for choosing Epee (the weapon I use, there's 3 in fencing). I'm not very good yet, but I sometimes surprise people and get a few good points that way. Also, I'm now on my way to my first tournament this Sunday. whee!
